I couldn't wait and decided to muscle through putting these up with my laptop. Check out these photos:
The meeting at Bob Evans . . .
Checking out some finds during a break
Jeremy and his brother Lance continued to amaze us with their finds:
More of the amazing Kail Brothers:
A Large Cent coin spill found by Zoso
Tom's handful after a day and a half!
Red's finds (not including his half dime!)
And some amazing finds found with an antique white's machine!
A view of the camp . . .
A Boy Scout relic . . . .
Taking a break . . .
Jeremy's Barber Half from day two
Another Boy Scout Relic
A four-quarter coin spill.
I'll post more photos as I get a chance.
Steve

| looks like a match to me... nice find! As many tents that were out there, you'd think we would of found a bunch of them if they were used by the scouts???? |

Take a look at this, I think it is what is left of an old compass, this is a pic of the back of it.
everything else on it was gone |

| groundsnooper - when I first saw your sap tap I first thought of a rope adjuster but in New Jersey we don't find much Civil war relics I remembered it from a picture. Then I noticed the reply with finds from Texas. I'm curious to where you found it because I found an old iron stake with a half cent and a ring and not far away a minnie ball. Was there civil war activity in that area. Some of our finds suggest something from that time period. Nice find!!! |

| No civil war activity that is known about.... I wish there was. It's probably more likely that there was tents used or donated to the camp that date to that era. |

Beefcake - even if there was no civil war activity, there were the mine workers who probably lived either on or near that site. It took alot of man power to operate a forge. Forges burned 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It was to costly to re-fire a forge and forges had to be fed charcoal 6 to 8 times a day. That's were I really wanted to hunt. The iron stake with the half cent, the copper/nickle ring, an old lantern part and the minnie ball I found was close to it but I never actually reached it because the road had a huge puddle and I did'nt want to get stuck attempting to drive thru it. All those finds were in a spot only about 8'x8'. I wonder if that's were the large cents came from? It would make sense. Or should I say "cents". A little detecting humor |
